NewsKaiser Chiefs work the crowd in LAKaiser Chiefs performed for a packed audience at the Henry Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles last night (June 7). Frontman Ricky Wilson encouraged audience participation throughout the band's 80-minute set, asking the crowd to sing along, wave their arms and cheer. The audience obliged, singing at top volume to crowd-pleasers including 'Ruby', and 'I Predict A Riot' and tossing glow-sticks in the air while the band performed songs off of their two albums, 2005's 'Employment' and this year's 'Yours Truly, Angry Mob'. "That was some fine singing you did," Wilson told the audience after 'Modern Way'. "And they told me you wouldn't sing along." The Leeds lads kicked off the night with a rousing rendition of 'Everyday I Love You Less And Less', while enthusiastic fans waved a Leeds United banner down in front. Throughout the night, Wilson pogoed across the stage while an elaborate light show lit up the crowd. They ended the gig with 'Everything Is Average Nowadays' before returning for a two-song encore that included 'The Angry Mob' and 'Oh My God', which gave the audience one final chance for a massive sing-along. "The audiences are the most important thing about a gig and we try to make audiences enjoy it," Wilson told NME.COM. "In any city like LA that thinks it's kind of cool, we have to work a little bit harder. But the challenge makes it more enjoyable for us." Kaiser Chiefs will play two more dates in California before heading back to the UK to begin the festival circuit. Arctic Monkeys storm Ibiza Rocks Arctic Monkeys teamed up with allies Reverend And The Makers for an intimate show in Ibiza last night (September 1). Sheffield's indie superstars played with close friend Jon McLure's band for the first time in over a year at the latest Ibiza Rocks with Sony Ericsson shows at the town's Bar M. Playing their most intimate European show in months, the Monkeys played an hour-long, hit-packed set on the Balearic island in front of an audience that included Kaiser Chiefs singer Ricky Wilson, and DJs Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim and Zane Lowe, who had both been DJing on the island's flagship club Manumission the previous night. The Ibiza Rocks show also gave Alex Turner a chance to reunite with his housemate McLure. Gearing up for the release of their album 'The State Of Things', Reverend And The Makers they ran through a set featuring singles 'Heavyweight Champion Of The World' and 'He Said He Loved Me', alongside an ironically delivered '18-30'. From the DJ booth, Zane Lowe tipped the band to return as headliners when Ibiza Rocks returns next year. Arctic Monkeys played: 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor' 'Brianstorm' 'Still Take You Home' 'Dancing Shoes' 'From The Ritz To The Rubble' 'Fake Tales Of San Francisco' 'Balaclava' 'Old Yellow Bricks' 'Flourescent Adolescent' 'This House Is A Circus' 'Teddy Picker' 'D Is For Dangerous' 'Mardy Bum' 'Do Me A Favour' 'The View From The Afternoon' 'When The Sun Goes Down' 'A Certain Romance' |
